7. Influences and persuades

Negotiations are extremely important in both our everyday informal interactions as well as in formal professional settings. Such skills are needed in a variety of circumstances, from negotiating a salary or business contracts to resolving personal disagreements. Research has shown that gender often impacts the bargaining outcomes especially when women negotiate for themselves, so why is that?

During this event we will discuss with researchers and experts the different ways in which men and women approach issues, the perceptions and stereotypes that influence negotiations, and how women can become better negotiators. Negotiation is a skill which can be learned, and although gender may influence the approach, we will explore negotiation strategies and techniques women can use to be more successful.
