HBA EUROPE REGION PRESENTS

How We All Fight Bias - International Women's Day

Celebrate International Women's Day with the European Region! HBA is offering 7 hours of programming focused on this year's theme #BreakTheBias.

International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to reinforce the fact that we all have a role to play in forging a more diverse and inclusive world. You will have the chance to hear from our HBA Regional Chair Sabine Hutchinson and join one of three engaging breakout sessions with inspiring speakers and moderators curated by our valued EU Chapters:

1) Breakout Room by Frankfurt-Berlin: Personality drafts: confronting bias in life as a woman
With: Plamena Dikarlo, Lucia Santoso, Julia Mahnecke
Biases are deeply entrenched – we don’t (want to) know we have them. Shows like Sex and the City demonstrated how normal stereotypes are. "How many shoes do you have? Are you a Carrie? Or Miranda?"
Learn about your biases with us. If you want to, you can have a closer look to your own bias’ before our session here: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/selectatest.html

2) Breakout Room by Basel-Dublin: Overcoming our own biases
With Kristen Pressner, moderated by Gemma Masachs
In this session we will learn how to overcome our own Biases with the support of Kristen Pressner the Global Head of People & Culture @ Roche Diagnostics and Ted Talk speaker “Are you biased? I am”. To make the most out of this breakout watch the Ted Talk: https://youtu.be/Bq_xYSOZrgU

3) Diversity vs Uniqueness: Be unique, #BreaktheBias
With: Barbara Marini and Livia Babini
Diversity vs. Uniqueness. We talk a lot about diversity, but are we sure we are addressing it the right way?
Recognising uniqueness to ultimately achieve diversity. Interactive discussion led by Speaker Barbara Marini, including live polls and debate.

After the breakouts we’ll debrief together our commitments and takeaways from each breakout session. You are also invited to continue the discussion during an optional virtual networking.

Let’s show actions on how to #BreakTheBias!
