1) Breakout Room by Frankfurt-Berlin: Personality drafts: confronting bias in life as a woman With: Plamena Dikarlo, Lucia Santoso, Julia Mahnecke Biases are deeply entrenched – we don’t (want to) know we have them. Shows like Sex and the City demonstrated how normal stereotypes are. "How many shoes do you have? Are you a Carrie? Or Miranda?" Learn about your biases with us. If you want to, you can have a closer look to your own bias’ before our session here: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/selectatest.html
2) Breakout Room by Basel-Dublin: Overcoming our own biases
With Kristen Pressner, moderated by Gemma Masachs
In this session we will learn how to overcome our own Biases with the support of Kristen Pressner the Head of People & Culture @ Roche Diagnostics and Ted talk speaker “Are you biased? I am”.
3) Breakout Room 3 by Milan-Brussels: Uniqueness vs Diversity: Be unique, #BreaktheBias With: Barbara Marini, Livia Babini
Uniqueness vs Diversity. We talk a lot about diversity, but are we sure we are addressing it the right way? Interactive discussion, led by moderator Livia Babini and Speaker Barbara Marini, including live polls and debate.

After the breakouts we’ll debrief together our commitments and takeaways from each breakout session. You are also invited to continue the discussion during an optional virtual networking. Let’s show actions on how to #BreakTheBias!

2:00PM - 3:00PM EST: Breaking Down Biases- Intimate Conversations with Women of Color
Hosted by the Women of Color Affinity Group

Join the HBA Women of Color affinity group as we present two dynamic senior female leaders changing the narrative for women and people of color in the healthcare industry. This event will feature Roberta Duncan, Sequiris' VP, mRNA Program Lead, and Jewel Jones, Real Chemistry's Health Equity & Justice Practice Leader.

This live, interactive panel discussion will build awareness around the impact of bias on WoC/PoC in the workplace and in healthcare, through shared stories. As racial and ethnic diversity increases across our nation, it is imperative that all people intentionally confront and find ways to mitigate our biases.

3:00PM - 4:00PM EST: Overcoming Hidden Biases that Hinder Our Success
Hosted by the Pacific Region

By now, most of us know that unconscious biases affect the workplace. These hidden, reflexive preferences shape our world views and can profoundly affect how welcoming and open a workplace is to different people and ideas. These predispositions shape the decisions we make by affecting the way we interpret information and how we interact with others—significantly impacting a whole host of organizational processes from recruitment to retention. At the same time, we are experiencing significant shifts in global demographic trends which impact age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and LGBTQ employees. There is no doubt that our workplace is becoming more diverse which increases the potential for more biases towards our colleagues and clients. Bias scenarios and real-world cases and examples will be discussed. Several individual and organizational strategies to minimize bias will be provided. During this interactive presentation, you will learn how to:
1. Identify different types, causes, and impacts of bias at work
2. Explore the impact of global demographic trends on diversity and bias
3. Utilize scenarios and stories to communicate potential biases
4. Apply individual and organizational strategies to minimize bias

4:00PM - 5:00PM EST: Hosted by the NY/NJ/CT and Canada Regions
Overcoming obstacles. Uplifting others. Transcending circumstances. Finding inspiration. Challenging stereotypes. Breaking through the bias.
To celebrate the 2022 International Women's Day, the HBA NY/NJ/CT and HBA Canada regions will showcase the personal stories of four dynamic healthcare leaders. Following the IWD 2022 theme of #BreakTheBias, each storyteller will share their experience with identifying, addressing, and ultimately overcoming bias. Join us in an intimate setting to be inspired and celebrate these moments, big and small, that can be a catalyst for change. Additional time at the end of the session will be reserved for networking and small group discussions to share attendees' stories.

5:00PM - 6:00PM EST: Showing Up and Showing Off: Give Yourself Permission To Do So!
Hosted by the Southeast Region

Showing Up and Showing Off is about recognizing the value you bring, celebrating your achievements, and unleashing your potential with courage and confidence. Now more than ever, women need to give themselves permission to break the bias but with a growth mindset, courage and heart! Your commitment, effort, and expertise deserve to be rewarded-but you have to put yourself out there if you want it to happen. Join us as we gather together to hear how Showing Up & Showing Off will help you find that emotional power, reignite your confidence, change the way you speak to yourself, help you work through the fear and doubt that holds you back from expressing your unique qualities and prevents you from unleashing your potential.
