Gisela Paulsen is a global life sciences executive with commercial, clinical operations and finance experience and a passion for driving agile, people focused change management to accelerate clinical trials and ensuring patient access by leading strategic vision, managing cross-functional operational challenges and driving growth that creates sustainable, long-term value for shareholders, stakeholders and employees.
She joined Genentech in 2005 and currently is Senior Vice President, Product Development, Clinical Operations, where she responsible for oversight of Clinical Operations for Roche Product Development and leadership of a 3,000-person workforce globally.
Previous leadership roles at Genentech include: Global Head, Product Development, Global Product Strategy and Late-Stage Portfolio Finance; VP, Access Solutions, Franchise Head, Virology Marketing & Sales; Senior Director, Thought Leaders Services & Commercial Compliance; Senior Director, BioOncology Marketing, Communication and Operations; and Director of the Independent Medical Education Department.
A champion of diversity and inclusion, she was a founding Officer of Genentech Women Professionals (GWP) in 2009, GWP Co-Chair in 2009-2011. She has served as President, Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) San Francisco Chapter, is a Trustee of CuriOdyssey, a science museum for children, and a Board Director of the Genentech Foundation.
She received her undergraduate degree in Pharmacy and a Masters in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery from University of Uppsala, Sweden. She practiced pharmacy in a clinical setting before moving to the United States in 1995.
