HBA London presents

Understanding Mindfulness and Compassion: a Cognitive Neuroscience approach

This session will review the applications of mindfulness and compassion for stress reduction, emotion regulation and physical and psychological well-being across the lifespan. Trudi will dispel the myths and explore the recent hype by carefully defining mindfulness, outlining the different types of mindfulness interventions and meditation practices and by discussing the contraindications, the potential side-effects and the limitations.

Trudi is a Clinical Psychologist and a Mindfulness Teacher and her session will focus on the neurobiology of stress and the neural correlates of mindfulness and compassion. The session will also include an experiential aspect with guided mindfulness and compassion practices to demonstrate the gentle, yet powerful impact of present moment awareness, equanimity and compassion. Trudi will also discuss her design and her research of bespoke mindfulness interventions for use in a range of community, clinical, university and workplace settings.
