Speaker(s): Nicki Norris, CEO at Symphony Clinical Research and Roslyn Schneider, MD, MSc, FACP, FCCP, principal, RozMD Patient Affairs Consulting, LLC and Donna R. Cryer, JD
Nicki Norris will talk about having an audacious vision and the challenges of making it happen, pulling from the experience of realizing her own game-changing and highly-successful vision. Nicki was pivotal in creating a vision for Symphony: that someday every clinical research study would include the option for patients to participate from home or a convenient alternate site. Symphony has pioneered the concept and perfected the processes. The company provides these services today in 57 countries and counts most of the largest pharma companies among their customers.
Roslyn Schneider, MD, is a leader in patient-centric transformation of the biopharmaceutical industry. She says, “Embedded in my professional fabric is a passion for advancing health by partnering with patients, utilizing expertise in medical product development, medical and patient education and advocacy combined with my experience as a physician in academia and direct patient care.” When told that something can’t be done, Roz responds with, “Maybe you can’t, but that doesn’t mean I can’t.” Throughout her career Roz has relied on the support of the HBA community to help her make her vision a reality, she’ll talk about how that support has been essential in her progress.
Roz envisions human-centered design in healthcare that involves patients through the life cycle of care and development of therapies. She sees the future as one where patient engagement a separate or extraordinary thing is not but rather is good clinical practice, good regulatory practice and business as usual. She’ll share how her passion and vision fueled her work in clinical practice and academia, as the global patient affairs lead at Pfizer and in her current consulting business.
Donna R. Cryer, JD, is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Liver Institute, the only patient-driven liver health nonprofit operating in the US and Europe. She has channeled her personal experience as a patient with inflammatory bowel disease and a 25-year liver transplant recipient into professional advocacy across a career in law, policy, consulting, public relations, clinical trial recruitment, and nonprofit management. Mrs. Cryer is a frequent speaker on the topic of patient-centeredness in healthcare transformation, digital health, and value.
Mrs. Cryer received an undergraduate degree from Harvard/Radcliffe Colleges and a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center.
