HBA GLOBAL PRESENTS

Webinar - Career Conversations 19: Channeling Grit and Determination

If you attended the 2017 HBA Annual Conference, chances are you remember the unique and powerful theme that served as its foundation: Transforming with G.R.I.T. (Gratitude. Resilience. Influence. Tenacity.) In an all-star plenary panel moderated by renowned speaker and author Fawn Germer, we learned that it's easy to get caught up in the drama of jobs and careers, but growth comes when you step back and look at how you deal with life. Knowledge and talent get you into the game, but G.R.I.T. inspires your strongest self to take risks, persevere and lead.

The HBA is pleased to welcome Fawn Germer to this Career Conversations program. Fawn is CEO, Women's Leadership Network, a four-time Pulitzer-nominated investigative journalist and author of eight books, including the Oprah pick, Hard Won Wisdom. In the course of her interviews with some of the most accomplished leaders of our times-including everyone from Hillary Clinton to Marissa Mayer, Carly Fiorina, Meg Whitman and others-she learned that success is born in risk, and power comes from the self-awareness that disables doubt and self-esteem issues. Her newest best-seller, Work-Life Reset, shows how to refocus and rebalance to live a more fulfilling and happier life.

Joining Fawn in this important conversation is 2015 HBA Woman of the Year and CEO of The Ignited Company Denice Torres. Denice works with leaders to build engaged and ignited teams. She is widely recognized as a highly successful and inspiring leader with expertise in business turnarounds, cultural transformations and the ability to create a values-based, diverse and personally rewarding environment for all employees. Denice embodies grit; she is a keynote speaker, whose new book, Flip the Tortilla: And Other Lessons in Resilience, Optimism, and Mojo, is due out this year.

Sharing additional perspectives and more lessons about grit and determination is Michael O'Brien, executive coach, Peloton Coaching and Consulting. Michael was a successful healthcare industry sales professional and marketing executive whose "last bad day" -- a near fatal accident and the long road back as described in his book Shift - Creating Better Tomorrows: Winning at Work and in Life -- was truly transformative.

Join us for an inspiring conversation that will increase your awareness of how grit and determination can make a difference in our lives, careers and leadership, and come away with ideas for how you can deepen and channel your grit and determination.
