HBA OLD METRO AREA PRESENTS

Corporate Board Membership: Rewards, Risks and Realities

Event details
Serving on corporate boards is a way for executive women leaders to make an impact in the healthcare industry and to continue to further develop their professional leadership in new ways. Data from the Wellesley Center, Catalyst and others have consistently demonstrated that companies with three or more women on their boards of directors outperform peer organizations. Yet in the US only 16.9% of board positions are held by women. As fulfilling as getting on and serving on a board may be, it is not as easy as it sounds, nor is it a position for everyone. During this lively and informative session we will dive into this complex and exciting world and hear from executive women who currently serve on boards as well as from those who recruit and work with boards to improve their effectiveness.

Learning objectives
1. Recognize the rewards and risks of serving on a board
2. Hear what it is like to serve on different types of boards
