Fireside Chat with Tamicka S. James

Join us for a Fireside Chat with Tamicka James, Head of Diversity and Inclusion for the U.S. Commercial, Medical and Government Affairs (CMG) at Genentech, a member of the Roche group.

A change-maker, Tamicka is a visionary leader with a proven ability to spark cultural change fueled by her enthusiasm for building strong relationships and advancing belonging, foundational to unlocking the potential in others. With over two decades of experience, Tamicka brings a rigorous approach to delivering innovative solutions, while constructively challenging the status quo and anchoring to "The Art of the Possible."

Tamicka's leadership is changing the future of inclusion and belonging at Genentech. In 2021, Tamicka designed a new series, Belonging at the Table, which connects Genentech employees by exploring our diverse foods and cultural traditions. This culinary experience seeks to empower employees to bring their whole selves to work, to be uniquely authentic yet belong.

Tamicka will share how her deep passion for catalyzing organizational and culture change and her extensive experience in defining and operationalizing business strategy led her on a fulfilling career journey that spans sales, operations and business leadership, mentor/sponsorship and now, champion for diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging.

A native of Chicago, Tamicka received both her undergraduate and Masters of Public Health in Health Service Management from Northern Illinois University. Outside of her work at Genentech, Tamicka is a tireless advocate for scholarship, mentorship, service, and belonging. She is a member of the HBA Global Board of Directors, which focuses on furthering the advancement of women in the business of healthcare. She is also a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, an organization of college educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community throughout the world.
