Secrets to Executive Presence: How Breaking the Rules Leads to Authentic Leadership

Event details
Leaders must do their work, present to customers and employees, manage perceptions and create engagement, almost every day. Join Karen Hough, CEO and bestselling author, for a lively, interactive keynote on creating your own strong and authentic leadership presence. Hough reveals how it’s outdated that advice makes us stiff and uncomfortable, whereas authenticity and passion produce great leaders. Forget perfect; it is authenticity and passion that win people over. But you can’t be authentic if you’re following someone else’s rules. Embrace your own style, connect with your audience and drive home your message. Learn three steps to manage the unexpected in a positive way, understand passion and its power, and find out three rules to break - immediately - and why. The session ends with a high energy improvisational game, and you’ll leave with actionable tips to increasing your executive presence. Every registrant receives a copy of Karen’s new book published by Berrett-Koehler, “Be the Best Bad Presenter Ever: Break the Rules, Make Mistakes and Win Them Over”, and Karen will stay for a book signing. “Be a living, breathing, occasionally clumsy real person whose passion is both powerful and infectious.”

Learning objectives
1. Use relationship-building skills to connect with people, both up and down the reporting chain
2. Practice the use of purpose and action to empower presentations, small-group sessions and one-on-one meetings
3. Describe three ways to grab your audience, read your audience and drive home your message
