Event details
Health disparities are population specific differences in the presence of disease, outcomes, quality and access to healthcare. Studies show disparities account for up to $229.4B in additional cost to our healthcare system between 2003-2006. Low minority performance in infant mortality, cancer, diabetes, etc., reveal stark differences between populations. By reducing these differences through legislation, policies, and other means we can improve the cost effectiveness of healthcare delivery. We are proud to present this Alliance event with the NAHSE (National Association of Health Service Executives), a non-profit association of health care executives that seeks to promote the advancement and development of black healthcare leaders and to elevate the quality of healthcare delivered to minorities.
Learning objectives
1. To generate awareness of the economic and social impact health disparities have on all members of the St. Louis Region, regardless of race or socioeconomic status
2. To provide information on policies and legislation being discussed to reduce them, as well as resources and tools available to improve healthcare access
3. To determine steps members of both organizations can take to improve outcomes & reduce costs related to health disparities
