HBA AMSTERDAM PRESENTS

Solidarity with India

Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark, Rabindranath Tagore

India is the golden bird that soars high, full of innovation, technology, with rich assets of culture, art and tradition. However, in these testing times, faith is the only thing India is holding onto. As India fights with the deadly COVID pandemic, it yearns for oxygen. COVID has taught not only India but the whole world that everything around is temporary. It has taught us that in the end it is our family and life that matter the most. This is a very humble effort of HBA Amsterdam to re-instill the hope of the 1.3 billion Indians to let them know that in the darkest of hour, we stand in solidarity with them, to help them see the new beginning and the new sunrise.

Indian culture lies in the heart and soul of its people. The people of India may have different religions, may speak different languages, may be of varying skin colour, but what binds them is their culture. This is why we would like to share the beautiful culture of India with you all, and invite you to our COVID fundraising event - Solidarity with India. This virtual event will take place on 10 June at 6 pm (CET), where we will celebrate the rich heritage and the culture that the country has to offer to the world. All are welcome! Please join us!

Together we will make Lemon Chicken by Ratna. In order to actively participate in the cooking part of the event, you will need to obtain the ingredients listed below and take the following steps to marinate in advance:

Recipe/Ingredients
For marination (20 -25 mins)
1. Chicken leg piece - 500 gm
2. Black Pepper(crushed) - 1&1/2 tablespoons
3. Salt as per taste
4. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
5. Yoghurt - 3 tablespoons
6. Lemon zest - 2 tablespoons
7. Lemon Juice - 1 whole lemon

For live cooking session:
1. Black pepper corn/balls (i.e. uncrushed) - 15 balls
2. Slit green chili - 2 to 3
3. Black pepper (crushed) - 1 tablespoon
4. Fresh parsley
5. Sliced lemon - 3 to 4 pieces
6. Butter - 50 gm

Pre-cooking instruction: Since we will have only half an hour of time for the live cooking session, it's highly recommended that you marinate the chicken for 20-25 mins with all the ingredients mentioned under the "marination" section prior to the zoom meeting. The more time the chicken marinates, the better the spices flavor the chicken and the better it tastes!

We will use the ingredients under the "cooking" section during the live cooking session on the day of the event.

Agenda
6.00 pm – Live Cooking Class (instructions and the required ingredients will be shared in your confirmation email prior to the event)
