Be Brave™ Leadership: The Courage to Act, Connect & Lead When It Matters Most
Healthcare leaders operate in an environment where the stakes are high, change is constant, and the path forward is not always clear. Even experienced professionals can hesitate when facing uncertainty, failure, rejection, difficult conversations, career-defining decisions, or pressure to act without perfect information.
In this engaging 45-minute keynote, Jill Schulman brings together two powerful ideas from her work on the Science of Bravery™ and belonging: the courage to act and the courage to connect. Drawing on behavioral science, leadership research, real-world experience, and principles from her book, Jill challenges the assumption that bravery is an innate trait. Instead, participants will discover that courage is a trainable leadership skill strengthened through intentional action and relationships.
Participants will explore the hidden cost of hesitation and strategies from Jill's Bravery Effect™ framework to move forward even when confidence has not yet caught up. They will also examine the power of a "Brave Tribe": trusted colleagues, mentors, and challengers who provide candid feedback, accountability, support, and the push to aim higher.
The session then moves beyond personal courage to a critical leadership question: What happens to other people's courage when you enter the room? Participants will consider how leaders create environments where people can speak up, challenge assumptions, ask for help, take thoughtful risks, innovate, and contribute fully.
Designed for experienced healthcare professionals in virtual and in-person settings, this keynote connects courageous action with resilient leadership, career growth and organizational impact. Participants will leave with a Be Brave™ Leadership commitment: one hesitation to confront, one action to take, and one relationship to activate.
The keynote naturally introduces Jill's book, allowing the giveaway to extend learning beyond the event and encourage participants to continue building bravery and leadership impact. Please note - the price of the event includes Jill's book "The Bravery Effect".
