The Art of Negotiation and Self-Advocacy

Event description
Two Washington University professors that specialize in research and tactics around negotiation and self-advocacy in the workplace will present a highly engaging session focused on this art, specifically that women rarely succeed solely by working hard. Instead, women need to be strategic about how they negotiate the workplace. Professors Duguid and Sale will provide strategies for effective self-advocacy in various situations, including interviews, salary negotiations and pitches. Dr. Duguid is an assistant professor of organizational behavior, specializing in the area of women and leadership while Dr. Sale is a professor of law, specializing in the areas of leadership, corporate governance, board diversity and securities regulation.

Learning objectives
1. Think strategically about self-advocacy situations
