HBA OLD CHICAGO PRESENTS

How You Can Benefit from Generational Diversity to Create a More Effective and Impactful Workplace

Event description
Due to the anticipated delayed retirement of our aging workforce, we will have traditionalists, baby boomers, generation X, generation Y and generation Z coexisting in the same workforce by the year 2020.

There have long been generational stereotypes in the workplace and there may be truth to some of these stereotypes, that when not acknowledged could lead to miscommunication or job dissatisfaction.

The key to making communication and teamwork successful between generations is to both understand and respect the differences, keeping in mind that everyone brings a variety of life experiences to the workplace regardless of generation. Additionally, how we leverage the differences in values and expectations of each generation to work together more effectively; along with identifying where there are similarities.

Learning objectives
1. Build your awareness of the more common stereotypes, strengths and weaknesses of the different generations
2. Learn how to overcome the stereotypes of your generation
3. Consider approaches and best practices for how to work successfully with different generations to get the results you are looking for
