Learn a New Twist For Your Elevator Speech and Practice It With Speed Networking - Columbus

Event description
The ability to quickly and effectively communicate our professional identity when meeting others for the first time is very important. You may have memorized and practiced an elevator speech but found that it doesn’t always allow you the opportunity to make an impact in the way you would like. By participating in this Women in Science event, you will learn a different way to communicate your personal message and you’ll have a chance to test drive it with new colleagues in a speed networking format.

Please watch this 15-minute YouTube video "The Elevator Speech is Out of Order" by Michelle Golden at TEDxCitadelPark, before the event and come prepared to dazzle your colleagues with your amazing story.

Please note: Participants are responsible for your own food and drinks.

Learning objectives
1. Generate a plan for communicating your story to new colleagues, based on the video by Michelle Golden
2. Incorporate feedback from the speed networking session to refine your method and increase your comfort level with it
