HBA NEW YORK PRESENTS

COVID-19 & Vaccine Health Equity

A panel discussion about best practices and insights to ensure health equity in vaccine development and distribution amid COVID-19. This event will feature three industry professionals and their unique insights from a health technology, health systems and health administration perspective; and will be moderated by the HBA NY's Chapter President.

Discussion Points:
- Clinical Trial Diversity: How do we leverage digital health technologies to ensure inclusion of low socioeconomic status individuals and ethnic minorities living in medically underserved areas? Should trials include high-risk populations (ex. pregnant women, children, severe allergies) from the start?
- Distribution Disparities: There is a consistent pattern where Black and LatinX American populations continue to receive smaller shares of vaccinations relative to their proportion of COVID-19 cases and deaths when compared to their share of the total population.

Why is this the case?
How can advancements in health technology help to bridge the gap?
How do we leverage technology to access individuals such as older adults with low health literacy?
What role might the Biden administration play in reducing these disparities via policy changes such as the COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force?
