HBA INDIANA PRESENTS

2016 HBA Indiana Group Mentoring Program

Event description
If you’re an industry leader - or want to become one - here’s your chance to learn, grow and forge relationships with others as part of a mentoring group.

Objectives:
•    Connect with individuals from multiple healthcare industry sectors
•    Develop goals and action plans for individual development
•    Achieve results by testing ideas and gaining insights from others, while receiving feedback in a safe environment
•    Develop or deepen skills that can enhance your professional visibility and effectiveness

Structure:
•    Two mentors are matched with three to five mentees who share a common area of focus to form a mentoring group
•    Each mentoring group works together over the course of six months, meeting at least once a month, to help mentees make progress toward their goals
•    Mentor/Mentee orientation materials: Self-guided PowerPoint resource will be provided during the week of June 13.
•    June 21 - kickoff dinner event (in-person attendance required of all mentees and mentors)
•    Formal program runs through October 2016

Mentee or Mentor?
Mentees are emerging leaders. They have a strong sense of their development needs and can identify one or more areas in which they need mentoring support. Mentees must have the time to prepare for their group’s meetings, fully participate and help plan these sessions, and then “do the work” - that is, be willing to stretch, take risks and use resources to tackle their mentoring goal.

Mentors are seasoned executives with significant experience in the healthcare industry or related services. They have a keen sense of their own strengths coupled with the ability and commitment needed to guide their mentees. Mentors are willing to share of themselves - relaying stories and anecdotes from their careers, recounting successes and failures, offering ideas and approaches and identifying tools and connections. Most mentors have experience in a director-level or higher position and/or have developed both individuals and teams. They are the cornerstone of this program, donating their time and talents to their groups. As volunteers, mentors do not pay a fee and are not required to be a member of HBA.

Mentee fee:
$85 until June 7, 2016
$115 after June 7, 2016

Mentor Fee:
$0

This course fee includes:
•    Mentoring program kickoff dinner event on June 21, 2016
•    Orientation and skill building
•    Six months of group mentoring sessions

In-person attendance requirements
Attendance at the mentoring kickoff event on June 21, 2016 is mandatory for all mentees and mentors.

Applying for the 2016 group mentoring program is a two-part process:
 1. Mentees and mentors register for the program via the link below; Mentees pay the mentee course fee now*
 2. Complete the mentor or mentee application survey, which will be sent to applicants via email immediately following this registration.
*Applicants must complete both this registration process and their application survey to be considered for the program. Any applicants not assigned to a mentoring group in 2016 will be notified via email and their course fee, if applicable will be refunded in full.

Mentees must be HBA members. Mentors are not required to be HBA members.
This is an HBA members-only program. Mentees who are accepted into the program, elect to participate, and who are not already members must join the HBA by June 13, 2016. Please note that:

• The HBA annual membership fee is separate and distinct from the mentee course fee.
• The HBA annual membership fee is not refundable (so make sure you have been accepted into the program and have made the decision to participate before joining).

Consult your manager or HR department now to see if reimbursement will be provided. Find out more about the value of membership and the annual nonrefundable membership fee here.
