HBA NY TRI-STATE REGION PRESENTS

Executive Event - Uproot Yourself and Grow: Leveraging the ExPat Experience

There are many parallels between an expat experience and succeeding professionally, leveraging entrepreneurship, and being resourceful and possessing a persevering spirit to power through the non-stop challenges of uprooting your life and moving to a new country.

Many expatriates return with a far more sophisticated understanding of how their company works globally and have a significantly “bigger picture” view. This provides a different perspective on company processes and operations, which often leads to innovative ideas as expats analyze and question how things get done and how things can get done better. Repatriates also greatly increase their level of intercultural competence.

As companies continue to globalize, they need leaders with higher levels of intercultural competence to successfully integrate their talent and operations around the world. Come and be part of a dynamic conversation on the benefits of an expatriate assignment and connect with executives.

Learning Objectives

1. Understand how an expat assignment can build on your creativity and curiosity and how you can apply and create new results with what you learn 2. Discuss how an expat assignment can build self-reliance by leveraging the experience of being both a student and a teacher, a newcomer and an established leader, a comfortable national in ‘your own skin’ and a stranger in a strange land (with or without a spouse or family) 3. Connect the concept of being an explorer to how you can apply the intercultural competence that you learned in your expat assignment
