HBA OLD CHICAGO PRESENTS

2016 HBA Chicago Group Mentoring Program

The HBA Chicago mentoring program is an award-winning program that provides business professionals with career development and leadership skills. Mentoring takes place in a group setting, with two mentors and four to five mentees per group. Each group meets for six consecutive months, either once or twice a month. Mentees set goals and work to achieve them. The program leverages the experience and knowledge of seasoned mentors and the support and wisdome of the mentoring group to help participants enhance their career development and leadership skills.

The HBA Chicago mentoring program will run from April to November.
•    Mentors participate in a mentor workshop on March 5, mentor onboarding webinar on April 1 at 12 PM CT.
•    Mentors and mentees attend the program kickoff dinner on April 12.

Mentor or mentee?
As a mentee, you should be able to devote the time to fully participate in, and help lead your group. This is a mentee-driven program, and the more you put in, the more you will gain. Be ready to invest in yourself, take stock, set goals, stretch yourself and be willing to accept advice and support from seasoned healthcare leaders.

As a mentor, you are ready to give back to others and share your knowledge and requisite professional
experience (and know that you will gain a lot from the process, too). As a mentor, you do not provide all the answers, but help your mentees make progress toward their goals by identifying resources, asking questions, offering guidance, giving feedback and sharing your experiences and perspective.

Applying for the 2016 group mentoring program is a two-part process:
1.    Register for the program via this page. Mentees pay the course fee now; there is no course fee for mentors (who volunteer their time to help facilitate successful mentoring circles).
2.    Complete the application survey, which is sent to all mentee and mentor applicants via email immediately following registration.

Note: Mentees and mentors must complete this registration process and the application survey to be considered for the program. Any applicants not assigned to a mentoring group in 2016 will be notified via email; mentees not assigned to a group will have their course fee refunded in full.

Mentees and mentors must be HBA members
This is an HBA-members only program. If you are accepted into the program, elect to participate, and are not a current HBA member, you must join the HBA prior to the program kickoff dinner. Please note:

• The HBA annual membership fee is separate and distinct from the course fee.
• The HBA annual membership fee is not refundable (so make sure you have been accepted into the program and have made the decision to participate before joining).
