HBA BERLIN PRESENTS

Gender in Medicine - It Matters! (engl., virtual)

Gender and sex differences have been neglected for long time in medicine. Women or female sex have been excluded from medical and science knowledge production. Luckily this changed over the time and to date the findings of gender medical research have increased rapidly, however the implementation of gender medicine happens in medical care is still not at a comparable speed to medical development and is still challenging. Now, in 2020, were digitalization is more important than ever, women and gender differences are still not involved enough in the health system.

We are looking forward to getting important insights about “Gender in Medicine” from two assigned female experts:

Prof. V. Regitz-Zagrosek, senior professor and cardiologist, is a pioneer in Germany for gender in medicine. She has founded the first institute for gender in medicine and until now holding the first professorship for female-specific diseases, specifically cardiovascular diseases. She showed an outstanding commitment for gender-sensitive research in medicine. Prof. V. Regitz-Zagrosek will talk and reflect about: “Gender in Medicine – yesterday/today/tomorrow”.

Prof. Sylvia Thun, director for eHealth and interoperability at BIH Berlin Institute of Health. Professor of information and communication technologies, a superior expert for eHealth, online medicine, IT-standards for drug information and the semantic networking of systems in the healthcare sector. She encourages young women to take up eHealth and will give us new insights about artificial intelligence and how this is affected by gender- where are we now?

Register now for an exciting event and take the chance to discuss and network!
