Webinar - Career Conversations 16: How I Got Here: Characteristics of Successful Executive Women

Please note this webinar will take place from 12:00 – 1:15 PM ET. Please convert into your local time zone and mark your calendar accordingly.

How does a career develop and what are the successful traits that successful women develop throughout their windy path to get them where they are today?

Today, our careers are personal journeys that uniquely reflect our gifts and talents as well as drive, motivation and choices we make. What are the “red threads”, the habits, skills and talents you’ve honed throughout your career, from entry level, through middle management to director-level or CEO? Research points to universal keys like emotional intelligence and self-awareness as keys to success as the as the business world and client demands have evolved or disrupted the healthcare, life science, hospital and device marketplace.

What are the personality traits and “best practices” that consistently catalyze a successful career pathway forward, even when the inevitable happens and the career goes off track or sideways?

HBA is pleased to welcome Dr. Cindy Wahler, PhD to the conversation. Dr. Wahler is a psychologist and expert in human behavior. She has extensive and broad-based experience in positioning organizations for success, within both the private and public sectors. An executive coach who is recognized for enhancing communication skills, leadership style and mentoring capabilities, she increases the bench strength of an organization and helps individuals remove obstacles to success to get them back on track to their success.

Providing an executive lens to this discussion is Jane Connell, vice president and CIO of Enterprise and Corporate functions for Johnson & Johnson. Jane is responsible for strategy and delivery of IT Solutions to support J&J at the enterprise level and serves on the leadership board transforming J&J’s global operating model. Through strategic partnerships with vendors like Microsoft, Verizon and IBM, Connell and her team have earned Johnson & Johnson more than $300 million in cost savings and value. Jane is a strong proponent of mentoring and sponsorship, and her goal is for her mentees to feel “conviction and passion” for their mission. She’s proud to head a global group that is constructively shaping the company and the environment. Jane earned her bachelor’s degree in management from Rider University.

Moderating the conversation is Kelley Connors, president of KC Health, a healthcare consulting company. Kelley is a wellbeing coach for busy working women, using skills achieved through training as a wellness coach (Wellcoaches) and yoga teacher and more course work in mind body medicine and mindfulness (Benson Henry Institute at Mass General Hospital). Kelley earned her masters in public health from Boston University School of Public Health. Kelley has also been a devoted member of the HBA for almost two decades, and most recently has served on the Global Digital Innovators affinity group, a dedicated team of social media savvy individuals who advance the HBA’s mission every day through their digital outreach.
