Event description
Join HBA Boston on Thursday, September 8 at 5:30 PM for an evening with Adriana (Andi) Karaboutis, executive vice president, technology, business solutions and corporate affairs at Biogen. This is the first of many events in a new focus area of “women in healthcare information technology”. The discussion will focus on the evolving importance and role of information technology in the healthcare industry and will be moderated by Buket Grau, vice president, asset executive at Biogen; she current serves as HBA president, HBA Boston president and founder of the Women in Science.
Come hear Ms. Karaboutis’ story about how she navigated her career through different industries and into successive leadership positions:
• Her experience and perspective on sponsors and mentors throughout her career
• Advice and lessons learned for women in healthcare IT, such as how to gain visibility, become more relevant and be
recognized as creating value
• Her thoughts on leadership and the changing role and impact of IT in healthcare on industry and careers
Adriana has been at Biogen since 2014, but has extensive corporate experience outside the healthcare industry – holding numerous executive positions at Dell, General Motors and Ford Motor Company for over two decades. The evening’s discussion will focus on how she applies that experience to her current role at Biogen, where she oversees information technology, digital health and data sciences, global public affairs, government affairs, public policy and patient advocacy. She and her teams are responsible for unlocking new insights from commercial, clinical and scientific data and leveraging those insights to effectively communicate Biogen's corporate value proposition to all relevant audiences. Additionally, Ms. Karaboutis is on the board of directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and serves on the Babson College advisory board for the center for women’s entrepreneurial leadership.
