HBA CHICAGO-NORTHERN SUBURBS PRESENTS

The Productive Perfectionist: A Woman's Guide to Smashing the Shackles of Perfectionism - Part 1

We are now in the age of constant reinvention. Most new products become obsolete in just a few years. Doing great work is no longer enough. Success in the 21st century requires both quantity and quality. Sometimes 75% effort is good enough. To adapt to this new age, we must quickly bounce back from mistakes.

As the world rebounds from the pandemic and organizations create new ways of working, it's time to smash self-limiting "shoulds", such as "To be an effective leader, I must work in the office five days a week," and create new standards for success.

According to current research on gender and leadership, women are more likely to demonstrate perfectionist tendencies. Perfectionism is critical in roles where mistakes can be fatal, but relentlessly striving for perfection limits one's effectivess as a leader.

Based on Kathyrn Mayer's forthcoming book: The Productive Perfectionist: A Woman's Guide to Smashing the Shackles of Perfectionism, this program offers strategies to overcome risk-averse tendencies and manage demands from team members, managers, and clients. Kathryn offers guidance on how to strive for excellence rather than perfection. Participants learn quick and easy practices to work more efficiently and effectively - with less stress and a little lightness.

This program is Part 1 of a two-part series.

Part 1:
- Kathryn discusses her journey as a "perfectionist in recovery"
- Examine a day in the life of a perfectionist and how perfectionism holds women back
- Learn a new approach to productivity (Five Actions)
- Exercise: Reframe Your "Shoulds"
- Wrap-up, accountability partners

Part 2 will take place November 3 from 11:30 am - 12:45 pm CDT.
