HBA Spotlight: Navigating your Career

Please join us and engage with 3 exceptional women who have navigated career pivots or coached others in their journey. Our Spotlight event gives you the unique opportunity to engage with our sponsor and speakers and participate in small group breakouts that allow you to explore these topics more deeply.

Speakers:
Maria Byrne is a passionate, patient centric, seasoned leader with over 30 years of experience in the health care industry. She started her career as a Registered Nurse at Sick Kids Hospital, were she spent 17yrs in the clinical setting of the emergency department, with 3 of those years in clinical management. Maria then pivoted her career and acquired a solid understanding of pharmaceutical sponsored Patient Support programs through her 10 years at Innomar Strategies. Maria continued her journey with Patient Support Services at Shire Pharmaceuticals, as Head of Patient Services. Over her 3 years, she was able to transform patient services by creating a centralized model and implementing services to support patients holistically. Currently, Maria has developed and leads the strategy for the Rare Disease Division at Innomar Strategies, focused on providing and implementing innovative solutions for Rare Disease Patient Support Programs. Maria’s diverse, multidisciplinary team are committed to providing invaluable patient care and commercialization to support rare disease manufacturers launching products new to Canada.

Dr Claire Odogbo is originally from Nigeria. She holds a PhD in Economics, executive DBA, MBA, and is a Certified Accountant, Internal Auditor and Life Coach. She is an Author, Consultant and Executive Coach. She specializes in improving and transforming finance processes within organizations. She has been consulting for over 15 years and currently consults in a global capacity for Dentons LLP. In her career, she has helped develop leaders in both the public and private sectors and coached senior executives. She is the author of the book ‘Learning to Learn- A Sure-fire way to increase your Academic Performance” and has authored several articles with Faith Today. Claire recently co-authored the book: “The 9 per cent: Black Women leaders tell it as it is”. Claire is passionate about helping people and organizations find and pursue their God-given purpose and is a proponent of socioeconomic, gender, racial and generational diversity.

Andrea Schwarz is an authentic, passionate, strategic commercial leader with 20 years in the healthcare pharmaceutical space. She has held various commercial roles from a regional to national level and has won local, national and global awards for her strong commercial results launching new products in Canada. She has consistently transformed and built many high performing teams to great success across various therapeutic areas both in pharma and digital healthcare working for Abbott, Grifols, Shire/Takeda and Telus healthcare. Currently she works for BeiGene as the Commercial Lead for Canada. She also is on the Executive Leadership Team for Women Leaders in Pharma which is a national organization supporting women leaders across Canada.
