HBA OLD GREATER PHILADELPHIA PRESENTS

Beyond the Basics of the Affordable Care Act: How it Impacts You

Event Details
Our October program went into the basics of the Affordable Care Act. This program goes into greater depth, focusing specifically on how employers will respond to the Affordable Care Act and how this will impact employees like you.

In the US, where state and federal governments have grown to be the largest payers of healthcare expenses in the country, the government was motivated to contain these costs. As a result the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (aka, ACA) was signed into law on March 23, 2010.

While insurers are the group most impacted by the ACA, mandates specific to employers are significant, and they are changing the business dynamic for employers and the US workforce. Changes focused on insurers necessarily impact employers and their employees too.

Learning Objectives
1. Learn the provisions in the new healthcare law that impact employers most
2. Gain insight regarding how small and large employers view the impact of the changes, and how they are responding
3. Understand the implications for the insurer, employer, employee relationship
4. Learn how employees and future workforce is affected
