Step Up: How to be a Stronger Ally to the Asian Community
In 2019, over 20 million Asian Americans traced their roots to over 20 countries in East and Southeast Asia, including the Indian subcontinent. The diverse Asian population brings its own unique histories, cultures, languages, and other characteristics.
Yet, hate crimes and other negativity against Asians increased eightfold with the onset of COVID-19 as attacks were targeted at the group associated with the origin of the pandemic.
The recent 2021 survey from Pew Research Center indicated that about three in four Asian Americans say that they have personally experienced discrimination or been treated unfairly because of their race and ethnicity, while Asian adults are more likely to express fear over discrimination than other groups.
As we build a community to advocate for advancement of women in the Healthcare industry, we are honored to collaborate with our European HBA region and invite a diverse panel in this empowering event. Joining us at this event are: Wenny Du (Global Regulatory Lead, Amgen Inc.), Mai Tran (Healthcare Communications Specialist, Mai Tran& Co.), Charles Bao (General Manager, BGI Americas Corporation), Rick Houtz (VP Procurement US Lead, Bayer); facilitate by our European HBA leader, Sean Yap. Participants will listen, learn, and exchange in smaller groups facilitated by the panelists.
