HBA BRUSSELS PRESENTS

Cancelled: No light without shadow: the workings of unconscious bias in the workplace

Due to unforeseen circumstances this event has been postponed. It will be rescheduled for a later date (TBD). We apologize for the inconvenience.
Diversity and inclusion are ubiquitous topics in today’s organizations. So much so, that they can lead to a diversity fatigue and disenchantment with the promise of diversity and the difficulties of its realities. The research on unconscious bias is the latest proof of how deep the issue is and of the presence of stereotypes and biases: we all have them, even about ourselves. Where we have a choice however, is in our own actions. How do we develop alternative ways to act? How do we act from a place of intention instead of an automatism? We will explore the topic of belonging and how we are as humans and tribes in organizations. We will look at the place of authenticity in today’s organizations, the room we create for inclusion of ourselves and others, and how we can develop better practices when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Smaranda Boros, Associate Professor of Cross-Cultural Management and Organisational Behaviour at Vlerick Business School, will lead the discussion.
