HBA SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA PRESENTS

HBA Mentoring Kick-Off Event - Call for Enrollment

Event details
The application process for the HBA San Francisco Bay Area Chapter 2014 group mentoring program is now open.

If you’re an industry leader or looking to become one, here is your chance to learn, grow and forge relationships with others who want to do the same in an outcomes-oriented, results-driven program. Mentoring takes place in small groups: two mentors are matched with three – five mentees. The team works together over the course of six months, meeting once a month, in person.

Mentee or mentor?
* Mentees are emerging leaders. They have a strong sense of their development needs and can identify one or more areas in which they need mentoring support. They set a specific goal at the beginning of the program and work to achieve it. Mentees must have the time to prepare for their group’s meetings, fully participate in these sessions and then do the work, that is, be willing to stretch, take risks and use resources to tackle their mentoring goal. To make the most of the program, mentees should plan to spend a minimum of six hours per month on program related work and activities. The 2014 mentee course fee is $299.

* Mentors are seasoned healthcare professionals. They have a keen sense of their strengths and the ability and experience necessary to guide their mentees. Mentors are willing to share of themselves, relaying stories and anecdotes from their own careers; recounting successes and failures, offering ideas and approaches and identifying tools and connections. Most mentors have at least 8 years’ experience in healthcare. Mentors have worked with and developed both individuals and teams. They are the cornerstone of this program, donating their time and talents to their groups. As volunteers, mentors do not pay a course fee but must be an HBA member.
