HBA PHILADELPHIA SUBURBS PRESENTS

Deck the Cabins: Volunteer for Variety – the Children’s Charity

This holiday season, join us in celebrating and honoring healthcare workers with a special give-back event supporting Variety – The Children’s Charity of Delaware Valley. The HBA Philadelphia Suburbs Chapter is excited to participate in Variety’s annual Holiday Lane Adopt a Cabin 2024. For the second year in a row, we will be decorating one of Variety’s summer camp cabins with a theme highlighting the unwavering dedication of healthcare workers throughout the busy holiday season.

Who is Variety and What is Holiday Lane?
Founded in 1935, Variety’s mission is to enrich the lives of young adults and children with disabilities by providing access to social, educational, and vocational programs that nurture independence and self-confidence, and prepare them for life. Variety serves individuals from ages 5 to 24 with a range of diagnoses, including those who are medically fragile, have rare diseases, and those with traumatic brain injuries. Given the unique needs of their population, Variety employs healthcare professionals who work onsite to ensure everyone receives the care they need. The HBA chapter is proud to support their efforts. Learn more about Variety’s mission here.

Variety’s annual Holiday Lane is a three-day event where visitors can drive and walk through their Montgomery County campus in Worcester, PA. The campus will be filled with beautifully decorated cabins, festive activities, and live entertainment for all ages!

The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) does not endorse any particular charitable organization and is not liable for any claims, controversies, or disputes that may arise from your support of such organization.

There are three opportunities to participate; select one, two, or all three!

1. Join us! Come decorate a cabin with the HBA Philadelphia Suburbs Chapter on Thursday, November 21st between 5-7 pm! We will be decorating one of Variety’s summer camp cabins with a holiday healthcare theme.
- Our theme is a Healthcare Worker’s Holiday focusing on the HBA colors (purple with some teal accents). Think teddy bears in scrubs or white coats, healthcare related ornaments and decor, stethoscope wreaths. Anything healthcare, holiday and HBA colors is welcomed!
- Supplies and decorations will be provided, however, if you have anything that fits the theme you are more than welcome to bring additional decor or supplies!
- Please plan to dress warm! Hand warmers and hot chocolate will also be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

2. Volunteer! There are several volunteer opportunities during the Holiday Lane event on the days and times listed below. HBA will not have a formal group arranged, but all are open to attend!
- Thursday, December 5th (5-7 pm)
- Friday, December 6th (5-7 pm; 7-9 pm)
- Saturday, December 7th (3-6:30 pm, 6:30-9 pm)

3. Contribute! If you cannot attend the in-person activities but would like to donate to Variety, this link will take you to their donation page: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/variety-club-camp-development-center-for-handicapped-children
