HBA OLD FLORIDA PRESENTS

The Missing Link: How Emotions Help Women Be Good, Better and Best Leaders

Event description
What do you believe about mixing business and emotions? Do you believe emotions play a strategic role for leaders, or are likelier to threaten your credibility with your boss, team or your ability to influence clients and those whose support you need to make progress? Have you ever ‘lost it’ in a business situation, felt embarrassed, and now believe that your emotions are best left out of your success equation?

HBA Florida is proud to present a signature event, sponsored by DePuy Synthes, with award-winning emotional intelligence coach, consultant and author, Pat Baxter, EdD, MS, CSA on how emotions help great women (like you) get ahead.

Dr. Baxter, who helped found the HBA in Florida, will offer her unique perspective on why emotions make women the best leaders in all aspects of life and who make better leadership decisions and mobilize teams to be the best.

During this session, we will look at:
• What emotions are and what neuroscience research says about why emotions exist, how they can be triggered and how much control we really have over them.
• Why women might shy away from showing feelings in the workplace and avoid using emotions even though they might be the most effective way to get things done.
• How being known as a leader who uses emotions to deliver solutions and create work relationships that work can help distinguish you on a crowded leadership platform.

Copies of Dr. Baxter’s book, “Cool Change: How Real Women Turn Emotions into Leadership Strengths” will be available for purchase.

You won't want to miss this session. It will be a great opportunity to network, expand and deepen your relationships with phenomenal professional women, like yourself. Remember to bring your business cards for an evening to connect with new people and learn about the HBA.

Learning objectives
1. Define what emotions are and how they serve us as women leaders (or not)
