HBA CHICAGO-NORTHERN SUBURBS PRESENTS

Virtual Networking - Levity is the Best Networking Tool

In any networking event (or meeting) you will have a whole range of personalities, from being afraid to speak
up to conversation dominators, and everything in between. Not only that but most of us have a lot on our
mind – we’re thinking about an email we have to send or that escaped lizard in my son’s room (true story).
That’s why it’s vital to clear away those distractions and keep everyone focused on the task at hand –
connecting to other humans. It’s the relationships we build, in the end, that make all the difference.

In this highly interactive session, we will explore activities that will improve everyone’s ability to make better
connections and forge stronger relationships, no matter how shy or outgoing they are. We will explore…
• What you can do to make quick connections and build trust (we’ll try on a few)
• Shifting from a place of fear to one of presence (and maybe even levity) in uncomfortable situations
• Trying on some new performance options that will surprise you (but not scare you!)
• A few storytelling and conversation techniques that will spice up (in a purely fun way) your tales

We will all work together developing (working out) our ability to be present to our own behavior and our
impact on others. It’s not comedy training, it’s connection building with a dash of laughter. You will walk
away with new tools and mindsets to bring to your own events.

“If you only do what you know and do it very, very well, chances are that you won’t fail.
You’ll just stagnate, and your work will get less and less interesting, and that’s failure by erosion.”
- Twyla Thar
