HBA ST. LOUIS PRESENTS

Having Challenging Conversations

Think of a conversation you’ve been putting off. Got it? It’s one of those times when you know you should talk to someone, but you don’t. Sometimes we are afraid that if we have these conversations they will make the situation worse, so we avoid them hoping that they will somehow go away. Since hope is not an effective strategy, these situations rarely get better on their own. While most people don’t like dealing with challenging conversations, we all need to have them at times. So, what do you do?

In this program executive coach Louis Forbringer, PhD will teach best practice strategies, provide a checklist of action items to think about before going into the conversation, review some useful skills to practice during the conversation and give some tips and suggestions to help you stay focused, including possible conversation openings.

Special instructions: Please remember to bring your ID for check in. If relying on GPS, please use Google Maps, as some other apps are inaccurate. Pfizer and Monsanto share a campus, and the signage says Monsanto, but the meeting will take place in a Pfizer building. There will be ample HBA 'wayfinding' signage. When arriving, check in at the guard station. They should have your name on the list. At the traffic circle, take the first right (Forest Trace Drive) and follow signs to the visitor parking lot, which is just past the parking garage. Then, enter the lobby, where you’ll check in. Pfizer representatives will be there to escort everyone to the event. Please see the map for more details.
