HBA OLD EUROPE PRESENTS

Mastering Difficult Conversations In the Workplace: Assertiveness Without Abrasiveness

Assertiveness is a key element of career success. Yet for women, there is often a fine line between assertiveness and abrasiveness. Women who display assertive, outspoken and confident qualities can be perceived negatively whereas similar behaviors are seen more positively when displayed by men.

How can women be assertive and manage difficult conversations in the workplace? What behaviors should both women and men model? How can women and men improve their ways of working together and form successful partnerships?

In partnership with KPMG UK, HBA Europe will explore how leaders can be effective at mastering key and difficult conversations with a panel of leading experts moderated by professor Hilary Thomas, chief medical advisor, KPMG.

Panelists include:
• Stephen Frost, coach, an international expert on diversity and inclusion
• Zoe Young, PhD, Half the Sky Ltd, a specialist in improving outcomes for women in work
• Alison James, a UK and Ireland board member at Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices
• Jason Ghaboos, a key contributor to the Murray Edwards Collaborating with Men report
• Thekla Morenroth, PhD, a research fellow on gender psychology
