HBA SAN DIEGO PRESENTS

RESCHEDULED: Learning with the Prose Book Club: Lifescale by Brian Solis

HBA San Diego has initiated a Virtual Book Club, Learning with the Prose. No matter what your age, reading helps keep your brain sharp. Discussing what you’ve read with other intelligent folks can challenge your understanding, and help you make new connections, boost creativity, relieve stress, and create a social connection.

This fourth virtual book club is an opportunity to read "Lifescale: How to Live a More Creative, Productive, and Happy Life (1st Edition) by Brian Solis (Author)" and then explore it further with a small group of HBA members (not more than 12) who will meet online via Zoom.

More about the book: “Lifescale” is non-fiction written by Brian Solis. Lifescale is a journey of self-discovery and growth. It’s about getting back into balance and remastering our destinies. The author developed a set of techniques, exercises, and thought experiments designed to tame the chaos, and positively and productively navigate our day-to-day lives. Instead of falling victim to the never-ending cycle of newsfeeds, Likes, addictive apps, and boredom scrolling, we can learn to manage our time and inspire our own lives in a way that will bring meaning back―without sacrificing the benefits that our devices bring us.

This book club review will meet one time:
19 April 5:00-6:00 PM PST
Introductions/book club format review and discussion of Chapter 1-14 and the applicability of concepts to our lives

Somewhere along the way, we got distracted. As much as we multitask, love our devices and feel like we’re in control, deep down we know that something is off. Shortened attention spans, declines in critical thinking, lack of sleep, self-doubt and decreased creativity are just some of the effects coming to light in an age of digital distraction. It’s time to reclaim our lives. It’s time to take control. The discussion will be enlightening and insightful.
