Women in Leadership Positions: Involving Men in the Mission

Event description
Aiming for more women in leadership positions... this is about women, for sure. However, just handling this as a female topic hasn’t been sufficient yet. The proportion of female managers has only been slightly increasing over the past years. So, the question arises, "what about the men?" In German companies, most leadership positions are held by men. This is both the problem and the solution, as there is a lot of quantitative and qualitative potential in these men to support women in achieving leadership positions.

One strategy is to involve men in this mission. It is essential to address resistance and hidden concerns that are often unconscious and indirectly expressed (e.g. “she always misses work because of her children being sick,“ or "female leaders are “"tough, strong, naive, sexy, disturbing, emotional or airy-fairy)." By illustrating opportunities why men should get involved and support women, clear benefits of having women in leadership positions will be shown.

Dr. Gabriele Schambach, management trainer and speaker, GenderworkS, focuses on questions about equal opportunities for men and women. During her presentation, she is going to speak about her experience and further considerations about how to involve men in this process.
