HBA OLD METRO AREA PRESENTS

2016 HBA Metro Chapter Group Mentoring Program

Event description
If you’re an industry leader—or want to become one—here’s your chance to learn, grow and forge relationships with others who want to do the same thing.

In an outcomes-oriented, results-driven program, two mentors are matched with four-to-five mentees who share a common area of focus. The team then works together over the course of six months, meeting twice a month, both in person and by teleconference, striving to achieve their goals.

Mentor or mentee?
Mentees are emerging leaders who have a strong sense of their development needs and can identify one or more areas in which they need mentoring support. They set a specific goal at the program's beginning and work to achieve it. Mentees must have the time to prepare for their group’s meetings, fully participate in these sessions and “do the work” - that is, be willing to stretch, take risks and use resources to tackle their mentoring goal. To make the most of the program, mentees should plan to spend a minimum of six hours per month on program-related work and activities.
**Special pricing for a limited time only: the 2016 mentee course fee will be $225.00 until February 29, 2016; the mentee course fee increases to $325.00 after that date.

Mentors are seasoned executives with significant experience in the healthcare industry or related services. They have a keen sense of their own strengths coupled with the ability and commitment needed to guide their mentees. Mentors are willing to share of themselves - relaying stories and anecdotes from their careers, recounting successes and failures, offering ideas and approaches, and identifying tools and connections. Most mentors have at least 10 years’ experience in a director-level or higher position and have developed both individuals and teams. They are the cornerstone of this program, donating their time and talents to their groups. As volunteers, mentors do not pay a course fee.

Applying for the 2016 group mentoring program is a two-part process:
1. Register for the program via the HBA website; Mentees pay the mentee course fee now*
2. Complete the mentor or mentee application survey, which will be sent to applicants via email immediately following registration
*Applicants to the program must complete both registration and their application survey in order to be considered for inclusion. Any applicants not assigned to a mentoring group in 2016 will be notified via email and all associated registration fees will be refunded in full.

Mentees and Mentors must be HBA members.
This is an HBA-members only program. If you are accepted into the program, elect to participate, and are not a current HBA member, you must join the HBA by February 14, 2016. Please note that:

• The HBA annual membership fee is separate and distinct from the mentee program fee.
• The HBA annual membership fee is not refundable (so make sure you have been accepted into the program and have made the decision to participate before joining).

Consult your manager or HR department now to see if reimbursement will be provided. Find out more about the value of membership and the annual nonrefundable membership fee here.
