HBA BOSTON-CAMBRIDGE METRO PRESENTS

Commercializing New Diagnostic Technologies in Women's Health Today

Event description
Women's health today means more than just obstetrics and gynecology. As we deepen our understanding of a number of areas in biology, including immunology and cancer genetics, it becomes ever clearer that we need to scrutinize an old, unexamined assumption: that most of the physiology of women and men is interchangeable. To the contrary, both disease pathology and response to treatment may often be distinct in women - in ways that we are only beginning to comprehend. Understanding the variations between genders should, however, lead to improved health outcomes for all. To that end, both probing disease processes and developing treatments will increasingly require a new set of unique, powerful diagnostic tools. Here at HBA Boston, we are contributing to these critical developments by inviting prominent speakers from the diagnostics industry to address various aspects of women's health. Join us for this informative panel discussion, led by Kristin Pothier of Ernst & Young and featuring diagnostics industry leaders from Hologic, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Foundation Medicine, along with expertise from Massachusetts General Hospital.

Learning objectives
1. Investigate the role played by diagnostics in the global improvement of healthcare, particularly women's health
2. Offer a nuanced understanding of the process of developing and bringing new tests to market, including reimbursement and collaborations with healthcare partners
3. Provide detailed examples of how product innovation is managed in the fast-changing diagnostics marketplace
