HBA OLD METRO AREA PRESENTS

Third Annual Dragon Boat Event: Overcoming Challenges Together

Event description
Looking for an extraordinary activity that will allow you to discover your “breakthrough performance”? Then join HBA Metro’s Fit to Lead team for an exciting dragon boat experience racing on along Lake Luxembourg in beautiful Langhorne, PA at Core Creek Park.

Each paddler will embark on a unique leadership building experience with their team (20 paddlers and one drummer per boat) on 650lb dragon boats to “overcome challenges” and reach a common goal by paddling, pushing and persevering together. No matter your skill level (novice, intermediate or veteran), each paddler plays a critical role because getting to the finish line is dependent on effectively utilizing the team’s cumulative physical and mental skillset along with building trust and confidence.

Through your team, you’ll learn not only about the strengths and weaknesses of yourself and your teammates, but also how to strategically use them to accomplish a goal (i.e. “overcoming challenges together" in order to reach your common goal). No experience is necessary for this event to learn about your leadership style through teamwork and building trust and confidence.

Front paddlers must paddle in unison and set the rhythm for the back half of the boat. However, the power of the middle mixed with the speed of the back paddlers creates the force for gliding the boat like a bullet through the river. By “owning” your place (front, middle or rear) on the team, you learn how to “lead” within your space and how to harness your strengths above your weaknesses to accomplish the goal of crossing the finish line.

So join us and discover how you can overcome challenges as an individual and as part of a team.

The event will take place during the Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival, where there will be something for the whole family to enjoy: live entertainment, cultural demonstrations and a medal ceremony. HBA paddlers will work and race with their teams during two heats over the course of the morning. Between races, we encourage our attendees to network, enjoy breakfast provided and experience the festival.

Admission to the Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival is free for race spectators but in order to celebrate this special day together, HBA Metro will be providing a ‘VIP non-paddler’ registration option for those attendees who wish to enjoy breakfast with beverages under the HBA tents.

This is a rain or shine, family friendly event. Please click here for any questions about this HBA event or click here for more information about the festival.
