HBA INDIANA PRESENTS

Kickstart Your Career: The Plan, The Pivot and Finding the "A-ha"

Warm up your January and charge up your new year with HBA colleagues focused on career. Karen Valencic will moderate the exploration of the following three critical components:

The plan – have you mapped out your career plan? Tatlin Resetich will share the mapping process she experienced in her HBA mentoring group. This process is quite revealing and helpful. Be prepared to put pen to paper applicable for any point in your career.

The pivot – just as the best-laid plans of mice and women often go awry, this segment will address when circumstances change and the map needs rerouting. Studies have demonstrated that the US workforce by 2020 will be 40% free-lancers. The gig economy offers a huge sea of change for how we approach work in this country. Erin Albert, PhD, 2017 HBA Indiana president, will share her “pivot” talk. She’ll take the audience through some of the major shifts coming in the workplace, how you can insulate and proactively shift with these changes and share the shifts in her own career, and others she studied.

Finding the “a-ha” connections, support and education are cornerstones of the HBA community. A significant part of finding the “a-ha” often comes through the relationships and insights found through the mentoring program. Learn more about the HBA mentoring program and programs for this year.
