Event description
The "Leaders in Healthcare Certificate" represents a platform of skills needed to be effective as a leader; practical strategic planning; a keen understanding of handling situation-specific issues; and knowledge on how to engage employees. The initiative provides leadership skills to advance individual career goals. This full-day program is presented by Brandman University, a private, non-profit regionally accredited university with educational offerings for non-traditional adult students. Courses offered combine theory with practical applications immediately related to a professional setting. Brandman University instructors are assigned based on their expertise and industry experience.
The Leadership in Healthcare Certificate courses include:
1. Strategic Leadership: focuses on the key role of an organization leader as strategist. Successfully formulating and executing strategy requires a different way of thinking – a “big picture’ focus and awareness of the organization as a system. Strategic leaders provide the vision and direction for growth and productivity of their team, business unit, or organization. Participants will gain practical tools for strategy formulation and implementation and develop skills for effectively incorporating both the analytical and human dimensions in the strategic management process.
2. Situational Leadership: teaches participants a method for analyzing a situation and responding with the appropriate leadership approach. The course covers the following topics: a) “situational” approach to analyzing management styles; b) relationship and task dimensions to leadership; c) individual strengths assessment; d) criteria for determining subordinate’s leadership needs; and e) four leadership approaches.
3. Employee Engagement: High-performance leaders understand what motivates their employees. They know the value of setting clear expectations and giving consistent, honest feedback. The ability to effectively motivate and recognize employees is a crucial leadership competency in light of the fact, as reported by Gallup, employee engagement in most organizations is documented at around 28%. Leaders today are tasked with creating a positive, engaging work environment and recognition is an effective way to reinforce an organization’s culture, align to corporate goals and retain talent. This module focuses on teaching leaders proven strategies for optimizing employee engagement, boosting morale and increasing productivity.
Individuals who successfully complete this day-long program will receive a certificate of attendance from Brandman University for their files.
