Executive Coffee Chat with Kate Masschelein

Kate Masschelein has over 20 years of experience in the medical device and fast-moving consumer goods industries, with a broad range of functional experiences, including sales, sales management, local-, regional- and global marketing, as well as general and supply chain management across Europe and North America. She joined Johnson & Johnson in 2003, via the ETHICON company in the Medical Device sector, and has a passion for making healthcare innovation digital and sustainable. Her career has taken her to Scotland, France, the United Kingdom and the US.

In her current role as Worldwide President for ETHICON Energy, Kate is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to deliver highly differentiated products, long-term growth and world-leading market position for the Energy portfolio.

Prior to this role, Kate was Vice President Supply Chain leading the Strategy & Deployment group for Medical Devices with responsibility for strategy and business planning, business restructuring and transformation, as well as mergers & acquisitions across the Medical Devices Supply Chain. Before her role in Supply Chain, she led the Ethicon US Specialty Marketing organization and UK Sales and Marketing for Ethicon, served as the Ethicon Business Unit Lead for Energy, Gynecare, and Bariatrics, and the Integration leader for Mentor in the UK, Ireland and the Nordics.

Kate is originally from Belgium. She is dual-located in Cincinnati and San Francisco with her British husband, Ben and their two cats Pliny and Eleanor. She holds a B.S. in Business from Lessius Hogeschool in Belgium, and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona. Kate loves to cook and is passionate about mindful leadership and hosts weekly mindfulness meditation sessions for her colleagues.

HBA's Executive Coffee Chats is a new program catered toward our senior members, which offers more intimate and focused conversation with others who are similarly senior in their career. It is members-only and limited in attendance.
