HBA NNJ: The 25th Hour- Working Parents, Balancing Summer Activities

Looking towards the summer doesn’t have to feel like walking a tightrope… The 25th Hour is here to help! It takes a village to raise a child, and you have found your 25th Hour village with the support of other working parents and caregivers!

The 25th Hour monthly forum provides a safe space to discuss the challenges and complexities faced by working parents and caregivers in today’s environment. This month’s discussion focuses on balancing work and summer activities.

Summer is a cherished time. The weather is warmer, days are longer, and schedules no longer revolve around distance learning or after school activities.

But summer can also be a challenging time for parents and caregivers, whom must balance work obligations with children’s camps, bored teenagers, anxious high school graduates, and family vacations. When everyone else is ready to play but you still need to work, what will you do?

Do you find yourself…
• Daydreaming of tropical palm trees and flamingos?
• Wishing you could call an Uber to take your child to summer camp?
• Struggling to adjust to your family’s summer schedule?
• Looking for additional resources to support your summer plans?

Topics for this month’s forum include:
• Setting/maintaining summer schedules
• “Summer Fridays” – are they a thing of the past?
• Family vacations during COVID-19
• Keeping kids busy / managing unstructured time
• Return of the college students – “night owl rituals”

If you feel like you’re always searching for a 25th hour in the day, it’s right here, right now.
This is your hour….

We look forward to seeing you (virtually!) on July 14, 2021 from noon – 12:50pm EST as we learn from and support one another in balancing summer activities.
