HBA SAN DIEGO PRESENTS

Navigating Difficult Conversations

Have you had to challenge someone on a topic? Have you had to give a negative performance evaluation? Have you ever had to share bad news? Difficult conversations can be incredibly stressful. They take a mental and emotional toll. However, the ability to navigate difficult conversation is a critical skill that can have both personal and professional benefits.

In this interactive workshop, you will learn tools and techniques to help navigate difficult conversations, especially remotely, which can add to the difficulty. Through the evaluation of real situations, you will begin to develop the confidence to manage conversations that are productive and respectful no matter how difficult they may be.

Learn from one of UC San Diego Rady's School of Management top executive trainers, Dr. Ernie Mendes, an organizational psychologist who specializes in the art and science of Emotional Intelligence with training/keynote topics such as Succeeding in Difficult Conversations and Leading & Developing High Performing Teams.

By the end of the session, you will learn:
- How to manage the single common element in all Difficult conversations
- How to set the context for sensitive conversations virtually or in person
- The key mindsets and language patterns to use and to not use
