Diversity and Inclusion: Being an Ally to LGBTQI+ Colleagues, Customers and Suppliers

This workshop is intended to provide a safe space for HBA members who may not have access to corporate Diversity and Inclusion initiatives, to discuss the role of Allies in the context of LGBTQI+. It will include signposts to resources and support for those wishing to develop further after the workshop. The workshop is facilitated by the European Ally Lead for OPEN, Pfizer’s LGBTQI+ network; the Co-Lead of Open&Out, Johnson & Johnson’s LGBTQI+ network and the 2017-2018 vice-President of Surrey University’s LGBTQI+ society. (The number of attendees is restricted).

Learning Objectives

1. Identify suitable (and unsuitable) language in the context of LGBTQI+ to reduce fear of ‘saying the wrong thing.'
2. Recognise some of the issues LGBTQI+ people might face in the workplace.
3. Describe actions an Ally can take in the workplace to improve LGBTQI+ inclusion.
