HBA WoC Pop-up Virtual Sister Circle - Honoring Victims of Lunar New Year Shootings

Virtual - Zoom
Friday, February 10, 2023 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM   Add to Calendar Eastern Standard Time

The HBA Women of Color affinity group invites you to join our very first pop-up virtual sister circle to spontaneously share and connect with fellow members. These small gatherings offer a safe space for members to support each other in the spirit of sisterhood, self-care, and wellbeing. During this sister circle we will be discussing the recent mass shootings that took place in California during the Lunar New Year celebrations. We will close out with a moment of silence to honor the lives lost as well as for impacted families and friends. Together, we stand in solidarity with the Asian community and solemnly begin to heal from these acts of gun violence. Xiaoyan Guan, PhD, Amgen Senior Scientist, Attribute Sciences, Process Development, and the Global Vice Chair of the Amgen Asian Association (AAA) will lead the discussion. Xiaoyan has been a proactive advocate for Amgen’s Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DI&B) efforts and has served in AAA’s leadership team since 2018. In particular, Xiaoyan played a key role in AAA’s partnership with DI&B and the Amgen Foundation in addressing violence against Asian-Americans. She is also instrumental in establishing the new AAA cultural awareness, professional development, and community outreach programs at Amgen.
