Rethinking Innovation: Why Biotech is Thriving in LA

By registering for this event, I fully understand that my participation in the program is purely voluntary. I desire to participate and agree to act in a reasonable and prudent manner under the circumstances. I further understand that any HBA volunteers participating in the activity will be acting in an individual capacity only and will not represent the HBA. As a condition to my participation in the activity, I waive and release the HBA and their officers, employees, and agents from any claim that I may have for any damage to property or injury to my person that may result in whole or in part from my participation.

Innovation and resilience are key to successful growth for LA biotechnology companies. Two years of pandemic uncertainty and geopolitical unrest have changed dynamics across all industries. LA Biotechnology companies are successfully navigating these uncharted waters, and rapid innovation is cause for enthusiasm. More than 6,000 drugs are currently in active development, including 800 next-gen biotherapeutics, with emerging biotechs leading the charge. Trends in innovation extend beyond novel mechanisms and platforms; companies are prioritizing ESG and the industry is rethinking clinical trial design to ensure diverse, representative recruitment and to get drugs to market faster. Investors are optimistic that biotech will outperform the broader market, and LA’s thriving biotech scene is well-positioned to spearhead this continued progress. Join the HBA LA and leaders from small biotechs in the area to reflect on 2022 and share their outlooks and optimism for the future of the industry in our region.
