Breaking the glass ceiling

The glass ceiling represents the invisible barrier that prevents some people from rising to senior positions. In numerous cases, it is the result of unconscious and unintentional biases – instinctive, underlying beliefs about ethnicity, gender, age, sexuality, social class, religion, among others. In other unfortunate cases, it is a cultural prejudice (or prejudgment) that is so ingrained and difficult to overcome. Recent research suggests that women are 18 percent less likely to be promoted than their male co-workers. BMS Network Of Women (B-NOW) in collaboration with Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) would like to invite you to join us in an interactive session to learn more about what the glass ceiling is, raise your concerns and discuss how to take ownership of your professional development to break the glass ceiling. The session is also an opportunity to inspire and empower women, providing a forum to discuss and address the systemic issues women face nowadays, while upskilling and encouraging female leaders of all levels at work. Participation of allies and people from diverse backgrounds is strongly encouraged. An heterogeneous group of panelists will walk us through their career paths, sharing challenges they have overcome and lessons they have learned.
