HBA BAVARIA PRESENTS

Speaking Up with Confidence and Presence – Even as a Non-Native Speaker

Ever gone to pieces during and interview or high pressure situation? Ever wished you had more confidence?

You’re not alone, but you could be searching in the wrong place for that missing confidence. Most of us go searching for confidence in the form of more, training, certificates and qualifications as if confidence is a skill you can learn. But confidence isn’t a skill it’s an emotion and no amount of skills training is going to help you gain more confidence.

Truth is that you’re not actually lacking confidence… what you’re lacking connection with your confidence. That might sound pedantic, but when you understand that confidence is an emotion you stop chasing after more skills and get curious about what it is that’s blocking you access to your confidence… and the answer invariably is fear. But fear isn’t all bad! Fear is there to protect you against some perceived impending danger. So the answer isn’t to push fear away and eliminate it completely but to reduce it enough to allow you to reestablish connection with your natural supply of confidence.

But here’s the thing, many people are disassociated with their emotions and find it difficult to describe what confidence actually feels like to them, let alone experience it at will. This workshop is designed to help you identify what confidence actually feels like to you and connect with that feeling at will. Knowing what confidence feels like and being able to access it at will in non threatening situations is the first step to be able to assessing confidence in high pressure situations such as during interviews, in high pressure meetings and while giving keynotes.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand that confidence is an emotion not a skill.
  2. Connect with the feeling of confidence at will.
  3. Get curious about what danger their fear is protecting them from.
