HBA SEATTLE AND HBA PACIFIC REGION PRESENTS

The Bravery Effect

We hesitate—not because we lack ability, but because fear and discomfort keep us in our comfort zone. In this engaging session, author, leadership expert, and former Marine Corps officer Jill Schulman introduces The Bravery Effect, a science-backed framework built on a simple truth: bravery works like a muscle, and it grows stronger with practice. Through a dynamic conversation with HBA members, attendees will explore what holds us back, hear real-world stories and research-based insights, and leave with practical tools to develop a brave mindset, take bold action, and build courageous connections. Whether you're stepping into a stretch assignment, navigating change, or pursuing a goal that scares you, this session offers actionable strategies to help you move past fear and lead with courage.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the three keys of The Bravery Effect—brave mindset, bold action, and courageous connections
  2. Assess the fears and comfort-zone patterns that hold people back from taking bold action
  3. Implement one strategy to build bravery and take decisive action on a current goal or challenge
