HBA SEATTLE AND HBA PACIFIC REGION PRESENTS

The Bravery Effect: Overcoming the Fear That Holds You Back

What would you do if fear weren’t holding you back?

In the fast-changing pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, success often requires speaking up, navigating uncertainty, challenging assumptions, and stepping into opportunities before we feel fully ready. Yet even highly capable professionals can hesitate when fear or discomfort gets in the way, and that hesitation can be costly.

In this session, bestselling author, leadership expert, and US Marine Corps veteran Jill Schulman engages moderator Lynn Nye, PhD and a select panel of HBA members (Seattle Chapter President Melissa Hunt, Nishtha Saxena, and Taylor Als) around The Bravery Effect, a science-backed approach grounded in a simple truth: Bravery is a skill that grows stronger with practice. Through compelling stories, research-based insights, and meaningful conversation, attendees will learn practical strategies to move through fear and lead with greater courage.

Whether navigating change, advocating for an idea, pursuing a stretch opportunity, or having a difficult conversation, participants will leave better equipped to take meaningful action, increase their impact, and move what matters forward.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe three evidence-based strategies that support braver action.
  2. Recognize the fears and patterns that limit growth, influence, and impact.
  3. Apply one practical strategy to take courageous action on a current challenge or opportunity.
